QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

The qualifications and skill requirements for this position include:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, preferably in a field related to human relations;
  • A minimum of two (2) years of successful work experience in leading, developing, and implementing strategies to enhance student success;
  • Proven leadership, judgment, follow-up and organizational capabilities;
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to creatively problem-solve and collaborate to address student issues and barriers to success;
  • Strong relationship-building attributes such as empathy, concern and commitment to student success;
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work independently, multi-task, and be self-motivated;  
  • This position requires specific knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office Suite including Excel and Access, as well as technological systems, social media and similar tools;
  • Ability to navigate the Internet for research and resources relative to student success and completion;
  • Ability and experience in analyzing data, identifying trends and gaps, and developing and implementing student completion strategies. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:         

The essential job functions and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:  

  • Contacting former IRSC students who have left the institution without a credential and encourage them to return to complete their degree.
  • Determining and documenting reasons for lack of completion; developing creative strategies that will lead to increased student success and degree completion.
  • Working collaboratively with various college departments relative to students’ completion needs including but not limited to: Advising Services, Foundation, Financial Aid, and Research and Reports.
  • Tracking and documenting returning student enrollment and engagement of targeted cohorts through to completion.
  • This position supports the Transfer and Re-Entry Coordinator and works with staff to accomplish retention and completion initiatives.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The specific duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Work collaboratively with Advising Services staff to analyze and interpret student retention and completion data in order to identify and implement opportunities for improvement;
  • Work collaboratively with Counseling staff to support degree completion through degree audit reviews, student monitoring and tracking, and similar strategies;
  • Assess and address student needs through effective, supportive and respectful communication;
  • Provide guidance, intervention, and direction necessary to keep students progressing through to completion;
  • Research and disseminate information on effective completion strategies;
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of FERPA guidelines while assisting students;
  • Maintain accurate records and document student progression activities;
  • Demonstrate expertise in the use of technology to assist in tracking and retaining students through to completion;
  • Provide necessary information and assistance based on interactions with students, including but not limited to:
  • Assisting current students with issues relative to completion of coursework and/or programs;
  • Developing strategies to ensure that educational programs, student services, academic support services, and other support mechanisms are responsive to students’ needs;
  • Working collaboratively with Advising staff regarding returning students who receive ReachOuts to ensure success in their courses;
  • Complete other duties and responsibilities as assigned. The work hours for this position will vary between Monday- Friday; 8:00 am – 6:30 pm. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires an ability to lift medium-sized boxes of printed materials, sit for long periods of time, stand, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds.  It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary. IRSC expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.
