The
Career Navigator is responsible for providing select Clark State College students with support and guidance. This position is created to
foster and manage partnerships with community agencies and businesses to provide employment opportunities and career advancement for
underemployed and unemployed students in the Industrial and Engineering Technology programs. Additionally, the Career Navigator is
responsible for recruiting and advising new and returning students and assisting them in achieving their educational goals in accordance
with the mission, vision and core values of Clark State College. This position coordinates referrals to campus and community-based services
as required while the student is enrolled with a special emphasis on increasing student retention and completion in the Industrial and
Engineering Technology degree and certificate programs. Additionally, this position will coordinate advising services regarding students who
were granted a financial aid appeal or dismissed. This is a grant funded position that ends in January 2025. 

Duties
& Responsibilities:

  • Works closely with partners in the community to provide employment opportunities to
    underemployed and unemployed students in the Industrial and Engineering Technology (IET) programs
  • Recruits new students into the
    IET programs under the direction of the Program Manager
  • Meets with individual students and employers to determine progress and
    provide appropriate support and recommendations
  • Advises and assists in creating an academic plan and course selection. Provides
    academic coaching to participants
  • Tracks and maintains records on project participants’ outcomes, reports progress to Project
    Manager, and recommends changes to improve student persistence and completion
  • Coordinates wrap-around services for students through
    college and community assistance programs (such as Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program – SNAP, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families
    – TANF, Workforce Innovation and Opportunities Act – WIOA)
  • Collaborates with Clark State academic/faculty advisors and other
    academic student support services and administrative staff as needed
  • Prepares, maintains, and presents various records and reports
    as required

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with major core coursework in
    engineering, business management, human resource management, psychology, behavioral science or social science or education; or completion of
    two years of technical education in behavioral science or social science or other documented education, training or equivalent experience
    based on the position description
  • 3-5 years’ experience in education-related or student services-related field
  • Must be
    able to exercise initiative and independent judgement in performance of assigned duties
  • Experience working with mentoring or
    community assistance programs preferred
