This position is located in Frisco and Denton.

New College provides leadership and strategic direction for developing, coordinating, and expanding UNT regional campus academic programs. The Dean of New College office also directs an academic unit that offers a range of programs and services designed to meet the needs of post-traditional students.

Position Overview

The Applied Arts and Sciences Unit at the University of North Texas at Frisco seeks an Associate Academic Advisor to join our team. This position is responsible for advising New College and branch campus students on degree/program requirements, course scheduling, pre-advising admitted students, conferring with faculty and administrators when programmatic questions arise and giving presentations. The Associate Associate Advisor maintains and updates student status records, transcript evaluations, degree plan audits, and graduation applications.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong presentation skills; strong problem solving skills.
  • Ability to learn and use a variety of simple to complex computer applications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to work independently.

Preferred Qualifications

The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:

  • Knowledge of university policies and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate well with diverse populations – verbally and in writing.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with individuals within and outside UNT.
  • Ability to work efficiently and independently.

Work Schedule: Typical business hours with occasional weekend responsibilities.
