Assistant Director of Retention and Student Success


About the Role:

Are you passionate about providing students with the tools and programming to thrive and succeed in college? We seek a self-motivated Assistant Director of Retention and Student Success who will work collaboratively across campus to develop a strategic plan and goals to increase retention and graduation rates. Your primary focus will be envisioning, leading and implementing innovative strategies to eliminate equity gaps and promote access, retention, academic achievement and timely graduation of undergraduate students.

An ideal candidate will also bring dynamic experience providing direct student support, as well as knowledge of trends and best practices in student retention.

This is a three-year funded position with the possibility of being extended; approximate dates are June 1, 2021, through May 31, 2024.

What You’ll Do:

  • Using relevant data, envision, design, lead, and implement holistic retention and persistence strategies to increase retention and graduation rates, and eliminate equity gaps
  • Develop a strategic plan and goals in collaboration with college leadership
  • Communicate retention plan as well as strategies/tools for faculty and staff to implement to improve retention
  • Help lead the Retention and Student Success Committee, and lead the Sophomore Thriving Initiative
  • Provide direct student support

Who You Are:

The qualified candidate will have:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree

Experience: 3+ years of relevant professional work experience

It will be helpful if you also have:

Education: Master’s degree in relevant field

Experience: 5+ years of relevant professional experience; experience in coordinating student services, such as advising underrepresented students, mentoring, tutoring, supplemental instruction, study skills development, and academic coaching at a liberal arts college

  • Ability to plan, implement and evaluate programs
