Advising Manager, Prep/GED/HS+
The Advising Manager is responsible for planning,
implementing, and overseeing the outreach, orientation, assessment, advising, enrollment, and student academic progress functions of the
HS+, GED, and Adult High School programs. Managing day-to-day operations, the position also manages students through successful credential
attainment and transition to college and supervises case managers and other personnel. Leadership and collaboration with faculty, campus
partners, community partners, local school districts, and the State Board of Community and Technical Colleges (SBCTC) is essential. This
position will interpret complex regulations and implement efficient processes.
- Oversee admissions, assessment, orientation, advising, registration, and other enrollment service activities for HS+, Adult High School
and GED programs within Pre-College, including serving as a liaison with community agencies, school districts, and SBCTC
case management to a caseload of students ranging in age from youth (16+) through adult; maintain accuracy and attention to detail in
transcript and assessment evaluations; coordinate student enrollment, and foster student support and success.
- Lead program
recruitment and marketing efforts, both internally and externally, with an emphasis on outreach to historically marginalized
- Serve as primary contact to foster, strengthen and sustain positive relationships with department, division, campus,
community, and SBCTC partners.
- Train and supervise assigned staff (case managers, classified staff, part-time hourly and/or
part-time student employees)
- Participate in program evaluation and collaborate with the faculty department chairs and other Pre
College Division personnel; collect and analyze data to inform decision making
- Maintain general working knowledge of GED, high
school and college requirements, Becca Bill, FERPA, funding sources, campus and community resources, and state requirements
compliance with state and college regulations; respond positively to changes in program requirements
- Demonstrate composure in
high-stress situations and adaptability to change
- Promote cooperation and commitment to support student success and achieve
- Demonstrate a willingness to carry out other duties as required that support the college mission

This is an exempt position reporting to the Dean, Pre-College Education Division.

- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, Student
Services, or related field.
- At least 2 years of experience providing case management, counseling, advising, or related direct
services to people representing a broad spectrum of backgrounds, preferably in an educational setting.
- Master’s degree in Adult Education, Counseling, Student Services, or related field.

- Demonstrated ability
to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds (e.g. ethnic, cultural, socio-economic levels, persons with disabilities, English

high school setting and transition to college certificate or degree programs.
- Demonstrated ability to market programs, recruit
participants, and network with a wide range of campus and community stakeholders.
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize
competing demands, and be flexible.
- Ability to interpret regulations and streamline processes.
PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work will be performed
primarily in an office or classroom setting. Work is generally stationary, sitting down with students or in front of the computer for most
of the day. Other physical activity includes walking to the lobby to greet students and standing for extended periods of time during
orientations, workshops, or class presentations. Occasional travel within the state may be required for advising-related conferences and
Salary is $53,532.38 – $57,505.92 and is based on the Edmonds CC
administrative/exempt salary schedule, plus a full state benefits package, which includes tuition waivers for college classes, medical,
dental, retirement options, and more. Vacation and leave packages include 12 sick days per year, 10 scheduled holidays, 1 personal holiday,
and 24 vacation leave days per year.
Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.,
including some evenings and weekends.
The position is an exempt position under the Fair
Labor Standards Act requirements.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
