Summary of Job
The Academic Counselor will be expected to advise undergraduate students in the College of Education and
Health Professions in the creation and implementation of achievable academic plans; assist with the development and revision of
advising-related materials and processes; assist with new student orientation and other college recruiting efforts; work closely with the
faculty and program coordinators of assigned academic units to disseminate information and resources to students.
This is a
one-year appointment, renewable based on the need for the position, availability of funding, and continued satisfactory level of performance
in the role.
Regular, non-disruptive, and reliable attendance is required, as well as the ability to create and maintain
collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Experience in
academic advising, career counseling, student development counseling, student support services, or a related higher education
- Master’s degree or higher from an accredited college or
- At least two years of experience in academic advising, career counseling, student development counseling, student
support services, or a related higher education experience
