The School of Nursing is seeking qualified candidates to fill a full-time Academic Advisor I position. This is a term position for the duration of the Illinois Board of Higher Education (IBHE) Holistic Admission Grant.

The Academic Advisor I serves pre-nursing and undergraduate nursing students and is responsible for continuous, conscientious file management, academic advising, and registration of declared nursing students and assists with ABS students as needed. This position maintains summary data on inquiries, prospective students, applicants, admitted students, enrolled students, and inactive students for purposes of keeping the Director of Student Services, the Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Programs, the Associate Dean for Academic Programs, and the Dean fully informed of nursing enrollment.

Responsibilities for the Academic Advisor I also include meeting with prospective students and families to provide them with School of Nursing information and conducting community outreach to underrepresented and minority students and stakeholders. The Advisor will assist with recruitment of students and provide feedback in preparation of the annual recruitment plan for the School of Nursing, with an emphasis on under-represented minority students in the School of Nursing. This position works closely with the Director of Student Services to ensure proper workflow and performs additional tasks as assigned.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in College Student Personnel or a closely related field. 
  • Proficiency in computer record keeping skills, ability to work effectively with high volumes of students, faculty, and administration.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of the position are essential.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrates respect of individual differences.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge of holistic admission frameworks.
  • Experience in higher education admissions and/or advisement and/or counseling.

FLSA Exemption Status: Exempt

Posting Salary: $3,025.45 Monthly, excellent benefits package.
