Community College has an anticipated opening of Academic Advisor for the Advising & Counseling Services Department.
for advising new, returning, incoming transfer and continuing students regarding academic planning, course selection, career exploration,
choice of major, transfer options, and other areas as needed. Focus on student retention and supporting students in overcoming barriers that
might hinder their path to graduation.
Responsibilities, Duties and Tasks:
Advise students on
academic planning, course selection, career exploration, choice of major, academic standards, educational strategies, transfer information
and other areas as needed.
Work as part of a team to support the strategic goals of both the Advising & Counseling
Office and RVCC, including ensuring all students have an academic and career plan.
Actively participate in student
Support the activities of Admissions and Recruitment.
Serve as a liaison
to specific academic departments and serve on College-wide committees as needed.
Maintain accurate and current knowledge
of degree and certificate programs of study, academic policies and operations, and College rules and procedures while maintaining security
of student records and correspondence with appropriately strict confidentiality.
Make informed professional judgments
regarding student referral to personal counselors, financial aid, career planning and other campus services.

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology,
Sociology, Human Services or related field.
Minimum 3 years of experience working directly with college
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to present to large groups. High degree of reliability and flexibility;
ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-cultural environment.
Strong commitment to the mission of a comprehensive community
Master’s degree in Education, Counseling or Higher
Minimum of 5 years higher education experience; including 3 years in Student Services.
Prior work experience in community college.
Fluency in a second language.
