Job Description

This position provides academic advising
to a full advising load of undergraduate students in University College, primarily with Degree programs. This role will coordinate and teach
the internship course each semester. Collaborates with supervisor and director of degree programs to increase the communication plan within
the BSS program and support the mission of University College. 

Responsibilities
include: 

  1. Advising 250-300 University College students primarily seeking admission into the Bachelor of Specialized
    Studies program, as well as undecided, undeclared, or associate’s degree students as assigned. Coaching students through the process of
    crafting a unique individualized plan through the process of identifying their interests and passions. Providing information and assistance
    regarding exploration and selection of majors by employing appreciative advising methodology and foster welcoming and supportive advising
    relationships. Assisting students in the BSS proposal process to build their own unique degree and selection of
    courses each academic term. 
  2. Teaching and Advising Support: Coordinate and manage the internship process and instruct the
    internship course each term, serve as a college liaison, present and advise during BSO, represent UC during
    university recruitment, retention and yield events. 
  3. Other duties as assigned include facilitating adjunct advisors training,
    selective program DARS review, managing BSO student follow-up processes and other
    project work as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration,
    College Student Personnel, Counseling or closely related field. 
  2. A minimum of one year advising at the college level.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. It is preferred that the person has experience teaching at the college level.
